Something about my sister | 2021 — now
When my sister was born, I was 6 years old. We didn’t get along right away: she was small, mischievous, and took up half of the parental time and attention that was initially completely devoted to me. We argued most of our life together, until my sister turned 12. At some point I realized that we had grown up and I found myself face to face with a person who had her own interests, opinions and with whom I could now talk calmly.
Adolescence has its problems and difficulties, and my recent experience was useful when it came to my sister. Authority in her eyes quickly shifted from my mother to me — my experience of growing up was closer and clearer to her. I, meanwhile, began to feel a certain responsibility for all the advice and suggestions that I make. We realized that there was no need for confrontation and gradually, step by step, we began to learn to interact with each other again: negotiate, consult, help.
The project «Something about my sister» is an artistic recording of the process of establishing our relationship. It’s also one of the ways for us to begin to understand each other better — through the organization of the filming process, conversations during it and subsequent discussion of photographs.
